Now that’s a true tongue twister of a headline! So Sottsass is the theme of the new collection by Darkroom London, probably the coolest shop I have never been to. The collection (need I even say it?) is inspired by designer Ettore Sottsass, one of the founders of Memphis Design. And as you can see, it is a perfect storm of next year’s interior design trends with equal parts Eighties, bold colors, green marble and even bigger graphic patterns than this year. Great to see back that Kora Vase I wrote about last year, by the way.
Just looking at all those pictures makes me want to jump on the next ferry to England tonight. Which, believe it or not, I have done before! But, alas, I don’t have the time this week. If all goes according to plan, I’m getting my Histor paint today so that I can finally start painting that Piet Hein Eek cabinet to promote the Histor 101 Karakters competition. Tonight it’s going to be primer time – not my favorite time to spend a Wednesday night, but what has to be done, has to be done. I’ll post the sketches of my design tomorrow morning, so don’t forget to drop by.
PS: I did another little elevator dance when I left home this morning – this time to Young Turks by Rod Stewart. Just wanted to let you know that I’m still riding high on the wave of that VTWonen Meet the Blogger Award.
