It’s Saturday morning – which is usually the time I sit down and update an old blogpost. This time around, I thought I’d go back to last September’s blogpost about the Aloha Bar in Rotterdam, which is situated in – believe it or not – an abandoned subtropical swimming paradise. They’re opening again this weekend with an updated decor and a cool party called TROPI. I might just go and check it out tonight! For more info, visit the Aloha Bar Facebook page. Oh and DON’T forget to check out my other blogpost about Tropicana with a fascinating look inside the abandoned swimming pool!
Aloha Bar at Tropicana Rotterdam
Mad Max meets Miami Vice right here in Rotterdam! The abandoned Eighties subtropical swimming paradise Tropicana is getting a new lease on life with the ultrahip Picknick Aloha Bar that finally opened its doors last week. This I had to check out! The Aloha Bar is situated in and around the former outside swimming pool and has to be seen to be believed. It was pretty quiet when we arrived there last night – which certainly added to the eerie atmosphere. On the equally abandoned Tropicana Hyves page I found a couple of pictures of the outside terrace the way it used to be.
The Aloha Bar is located on Maasboulevard 100 in Rotterdam. It’s open from noon until 11 PM – provided the weather is good enough.
At one point we snuck past a ‘no entrance’ sign to take a look inside. I’ll show you the pictures I took inside tomorrow.
