If there is one man who has inspired me with his endless energy and great personality, is it Hans Lensvelt. He invited me over for dinner a while ago after I had posted some pictures of his amazing building on Amsterdam’s Herengracht. Two weeks ago, I got another chance to meet Hans during Elle Festival – not once, but twice! First, there was the award ceremony for the Herengracht Industrie Prijs, which was held next door at the ballroom you see below. The award by the way was won by I29 for their Frame pop up store at Felix Meritis, well deserved! Anyway, I went back to Lensvelt the following day to take pictures of the Lensvelt Hub and all the great Dutch Design Year items on display next door and ended up spending the afternoon in the backyard, enjoying the company of Mr. Hans himself and other new and old friends who had dropped by. Thank you Hans for a wonderful time – even the chickens enjoyed themselves as you can see on my Instagram feed.
PS: Special shout out to my friend and former colleague Tjalle Niehof (it’s a small world after all!), one of the designers of Van Tjalle and Jasper. You can check out their GREAT new Fold chair if you scroll all the way to the bottom. Oh and of course that Layers Cloud chair by Richard Hutten looked pretty cool as well! 😉
