The Hotel Infante Sagres in Porto is decorated like a living room that has been updated through the decades with extraordinary pieces and rare trouvailles. The finishing touch comes courtesy of Boca do Lobo, the Portuguese furniture brand that recently did a complete restyling of the hotel. The company’s instantly recognizable style does not limit itself to the lobby. In the special Boca do Lobo Suite guests can acquaint themselves with the latest additions to its collection.
An extraordinay pair – that’s how you would describe the combination of the nostalgic luxury of the hotel with the joyous glitter and glamour of Boca do Lobo. Where else would you find a perfectly conserved pink marble bathroom and a gigantic TV screen with a frame made of gold one dollar bills? The entire suite is a juxtaposition between understated luxury and over the top furniture. The kingsize bed in the suite is set against a background of opulant black and white tiles. The zipper of the mattress is lines with Swaroskwi crystal. On the nightstand, guests will find a porcelain statue by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon. Its steep price will probably make even the richest visitors gasp.
In the breakfast room, there is also more than enough to talk about. The black and white ceilings and bright green chairs form the decor in which old Americans and young Russians start a new day. After breakfast, beautiful Porto beckons: the hotel is in the middle of the historic city center, just around the corner of the magnificent tiles of the São Bento train station and the shops of the Rua de Santa Catarina.
