Can you keep track of all the great new designs, fantastic visual ideas, provocative art and jaw-dropping new furniture you see online every week? I write about design for a living – well, part-time at least – and even for me things can get pretty overwhelming. I thought I’d do something about it right here, right now and start a new weekly Design Roundup. Each Wednesday, I’ll write a roundup post of three new designs and then ask you – yes, you! – which design you like best and why. Sounds easy, right? So, let’s go!
The Samsung Serif
Finally a TV I can get behind! Things were getting kind of predictable in TV land with those ubiquitous oversized black rectangles and so this new Samsung Serif designed by those amazi Bouroullec brothers is a much-needed breath of fresh air. The Serif has a very distinctive I-shaped profile and comes with a pair of very sexy legs.
Salmiana pots…and mirrors
Ay, caramba! I really need to brush up on my Spanish to understand all the ins and outs of these cool Salmiana pots. I’m not even sure if the mirrors are part of the design or a very clever moment of interior styling. In any case, the result look great and that’s what counts in the end.
R&BM marble chair by Jean-Charles Kien
Oh, who cares really if a chair sits comfortably? Sometimes all you need is something beautiful to sit on! This new R&BM marble chair by Jean-Charles Kien fits the bill perfectly (that pun only works if you speak Dutch by the way).
So, which design in this impromptu roundup do you like best? Let me know what you think!
