Houshi Ryokan – Japan’s oldest hotel, my newest obsession

You say Hoshi, I say Houshi – but let’s not call the whole thing off because the oldest hotel in Japan is a site to behold. This video by Fritz Schumann about the Houshi Ryokan (or Hoshi Ryokan, depending on eeer…what exactly?) is all the rage on the internets at the moment and I figured, I’m not going to waste a single moment and jump on the proverbial bandwagon. That’s how viral video’s work, right?

Unfortunately, but also quite understandably Herr Fritz does not want people to post screenshots of his amazing twelve-minute mini documentary so you’ll just have to press play, sit back and enjoy the show. YOU’LL LAUGH – at the woman smoking a cigarette in the restaurant! YOU’LL CRY – during the emotional end of the video. And YOU’LL SCREAM – ‘EEEW…WHAT THE FLYING F*CK IS THAT SLIMY THING THAT MOVES ON YOUR PLATE?’

I’ve included some of the best pictures of Houshi Ryokan I found online this morning – hope you enjoy them. BTW, I’m going to France tomorrow courtesy of Ruinart Champagne – you can follow me on my trip to Paris and Reims on Instagram if that’s your thing.

Have a great weekend!
