It’s been a while since I did an ‘And More’ blogpost – and I’ve kind of missed it. For a while, it was part of my Sunday morning ritual. I used to get up early, drink what felt like 1,000 cups of coffee and then slowly started looking for three short subjects to write about. And now taht summer is more or less over and the new interior design season is starting, I thought it would be a good idea to get back in the habit of of sharing with you the stuff that’s been on my mind – starting off with Gert Voorjans Daily Life.
Gert Voorjans Daily Life
Yup, he’s at it again. Belgian interior designer Gert Voorjans has a new book out this week called Daily Life and I for one can’t wait to read it. An autographed copy of his first book Interior Life has been a prominent part of my dining table bookscape for the last couple of years and I’m glad that it now has a sequel. What I’m even more glad about, however, is that Daily Life comes with a separate flyer that features a quote from me! You see, I interviewed Gert Voorjans once when I was still blogging for Dutch luxury department store De Bijenkorf and I called him ‘one of the best interior designers in the world’. And who would argue with that?
Gert Voorjans Daily Life showcases ten previously unseen projects in his own unique, exuberant style: from an exotic consulate in Antwerp to a penthouse in London or a fabulous castle in Bavaria. Daily Life will be available from September 13, 2016 through Lannoo.
Prepping for China!
I’m going to China, y’all! This Friday, I’m flying to Guangzhou for the sixth Timothy Oulton at Home event in Guangzhou. Timothy Oulton is one of my favorite interior design brands – it’s dark, it’s eclectic chic and has its tongue firmly in cheek. I’ve been to Timothy Oulton events before – including a memorable dinner in Amsterdam – but the At Home Event looks like it’s going to be the non plus ultra of luxury interior design.
Here’s a video from a previous edition of the Timothy Oulton at Home event. Phew!
After the event, I’m travelling to sort of nearby Hong Kong to spend a few days discovering the city. If you have any tips you want to share with me – let me know!
The morning I found out yoga is not my thing – yet.
So, a while ago I was at the press breakfast of De Bijenkorf Rooftop Festival in Rotterdam. As you can see, there was a LOT to eat. And being the polite middle-aged man that I am, I tried a bit of everything. Vegan tuna sandwiches? Bring ‘em on! Another slice of cake? Sure, why not!
Little did I know that right after breakfast I was cordially invited for a one-hour impromptu yoga session right next to the breakfast table. Oy vei!
Suffice it to say I sucked. Badly. And If you pause this YouTube video at around seven seconds in, you can see the total suckage that was me doing yoga. I’m sure the lady behind me had a fantastic view of my cleavage – sowwy, lady!
