Well, I must have done something right when I made my radio debut last month on AmsterdamFM – because they asked me back! Yes, today at 10.45 AM I will be talking about all the latest tech & trends again with DJ Sander Oudkerk. You can listen to AmsterdamFM online right here. So Sander, what do you think about these subjects for our five-minute segment?
1 – Woonbeurs Amseterdam
It’s that time of year again – Woonbeurs is the place to go for every interior design aficionado. I’m blogging live from Woonbeurs this year and these are a few of my favorite places so far:
First of all – I ran into someone wearing the exact same Tom Ford eyeglasses – fancy that!
Wow. Just wow. Check out these NOLA lamps by Studio Drift at the Eigen Huis & Interieur stand.
Amsterdam’s very own Peiching Hsiao is lighting the way with these amazing Taiwanese lanterns by taiwan-lantern.nl. These babies would make a great addition to any home – I could even see them in a minimalist Scandinavian interior.
2 – Mickey Easterling’s funeral
It was the best-read blogpost on Interiorator this year, so I must have hit some collective nerve when I wrote about the funeral of New Orleans socialite Mickey Easterling. As you can see, she didn’t want to take her funeral laying down – and so she sat on a chair at her own memorial service, dressed to the nines and a cigarette in her hands. Is this going to be a trend? More pictures here.
3 – Meanwhile in Rotterdam…
Queen Máxima dropped by for the opening of the grandiose new Markthal – that was built on sacred ground because it used to be the site of my primary school. My close friend (well, acquaintance) Ossip van Duivenbode took these two pictures yesterday – aren’t they amazing? So, Amsterdammers don’t dilly dally or delay and make your way to 010!
4 – Do you Uber?
Everybody has an opinion about Uber. I formed mine in 1998, when a TCA taxi in Amsterdam refused to take me home because I lived in Bijlmermeer – which at the time was not the best part of town. I vowed to never take a TCA cab again and I’ve stuck to my promise for over sixteen years now. Which has not been very hard, because I moved back to Rotterdam in 2001, but anyway. Tomorrow night I’m going to a bloggers’ party in Amsterdam and I’m going to use an Uber car for the very first time. I’ll tell you how it went next week!
