Let’s face it people, there’s no place like Amsterdam. I’ve been spending a lot of time in our tiny nation’s capital these last weeks and have a new sense of appreciation for and incredibly rich history. With the third edition just underway, the Amsterdam Light Festival is adding another layer of awesomeness to the city’s canals. The festival features thirty-nine light installations by the world’s leading light artists and designers – and if that isn’t enough, almost all of them were designed with their specific location in mind. Long story short: this is effing unique and not something that you want to miss.
Now, you can visit the Amsterdam Light Festival on foot or you can see everything from of the many boats that sail the canals of the city. I was lucky enough to be invited to a special bloggers’ boat tour last Friday that started at the festival’s main location next to Amsterdam city hall. We sailed on an antique canal boat with what seemed like an unlimited supply of beer and bitterballen – Dutch city life at its best!
Are you going to the Amsterdam Light Festival?
During the tour I posted video’s of my two favorite installations on Instagram. Judging by the number of likes they received, I’m sure the Amsterdam Light Festival is going to be hugely popular this winter. Make sure you go to Amsterdamlightfestival.nl for all the details. And if you’ve already visited the festival, I’d love to hear how you liked it in the comments section below this blogpost.
