Feliz Alidad! I read this morning that starting January 2018, renowned interior designer Alidad will be opening the doors of his London home once a month. You, yes, you can feel right At Home with Alidad because and ‘join him on a journey of discovery, through his personal world of art, antiques, architecture and interior decoration.’ Sounds splendid, but I can already hear most of my Dutch readers wonder how much this journey of discovery would set them back. The answer to that question is a hefty £500 – which is about €565 as I write this blogpost – although it should drop below €400 post-Brexit, right? I thought this over as I had my first two cups of coffee this morning. Why would a successful interior designer like Alidad do something like this? What is the need? And then I figured, well – who the hell wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to make a few thousand pounds staying right at home. I know I would! Here’s what you can expect:
The day itself will begin at 11am and finish at 4pm. Guests will be served tea, coffee and champagne throughout the day and lunch will be catered for by some of London’s most celebrated restaurants and chefs. During the morning, Alidad will discuss a number of different decorating techniques and give an insight into the challenges of creating a space, as well as showing his guests around his home. After lunch, Alidad will speak on topics which will have been predetermined by the guest’s specific interests. The guests will have the opportunity to steer the conversation and entice Alidad into revealing all of his secrets. On departure guests will be given a signed copy of Alidad’s bestselling book ‘The Timeless Home’ so that they can prolong their journey of inspiration well after the day has finished.
If you decide to make a booking, please do let me know. I’d love to hear all about it! For now, I’m going to get dressed and leave you drooling over Alidad’s work (get a bib if you’re reading this on an iPad!)
